Animal Welfair®

The ethical consumption of animal products is an increasingly present reality in consumers’ daily lives. Based on this conscious premise, the promotion of the defense, respect, and dignity of animals throughout the production chain is sought, as well as the practices that drive ethical, thoughtful, and sustainable production with the highest levels of food safety.

Based on the European reference frameworks Welfair Quality®️ and AWIN®️, the Welfair® certification, approved by the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology of Catalonia (IRTA) and the Basque Institute for Agricultural Research and Development (NEIKER), allows for the selection, evaluation, and guarantee of the origin of the product to consumers. Covering the entire production chain, a meticulous and in-depth evaluation based on four principles: good nutrition, good housing, good health, and appropriate behavior, extends over more than 30 carefully considered measures. Thus, the evaluation is based on the use of Animal Welfare indicators based on the animal itself, and only indicators based on facilities or handling are used when the validity, repeatability, and feasibility of the indicators based on the animal are not assured.

The entire certification process is controlled and carried out by independent external entities such as CERTIS, the first Portuguese certifying entity recognized for conducting Welfair® audits, which unequivocally demonstrates the experience, know-how, and aptitude of the auditing team. Thus, we ensure that the entire production chain has the highest animal welfare standards, demonstrating good production practices and promoting greater recognition, competitiveness, and a sense of ethical duty fulfilled. We can certify the entire chain from animal production, through slaughter (in the case of meat products), also ensuring full traceability of the product until the Welfair® seal is placed on your product.
